A new way to experience reformer and recovery

For early access to the founding cohort fill in the pop up or contact form and we will send you an info pack, please note our website is still under construction thanks for your understanding as we refine it.

At Space Bureta, we bridge the gap between traditional studio classes and unsupported self led spaces. Our reformer and red light therapy studio is run by university qualified movement professionals giving you the flexibility to move on your schedule, while still having access to expert guidance, movement education and ongoing support when you need it.

A more sustainable way to consistently return to movement.

How open pilates works in practice

  • Reach out to us through the contact form, email or give us a call and one of us will make a time to meet you at studio.

  • Start with Foundation sessions led by an instructor which equips users with knowledge and practice in reformer setup, movement principles, breath, and technique. These are completely optional to attend and you can jump to 03 if you prefer.

  • Book sessions that work with your schedule. Sessions begin on the hour from 5AM-11PM, with your reformer reserved for the full hour, even if you choose a shorter workout.

  • Enter Space Bureta at your session time using special access via your phone to open the door. Place your belongings in the cubbies provided and choose your preferred reformer. In front of your reformer is a small kiosk where you can choose from over 800 physiotherapist and instructor guided reformer sessions ranging from 15–60 minutes. As a member, you can log in to track the classes you enjoy or want to revisit. At any stage, our movement professionals can provide guidance on which classes are best suited to your goals and ability.

  • Receive ongoing support and education from our team. Our fully trained movement professionals provide form feedback, movement support, and progression advice both in studio and during our monthly ‘Form and Fun’ sessions.

‘Form and Fun’ is a monthly member event where we move the reformers out or meet at the park, and our instructors guide you through a mat Pilates session. These sessions are designed to deepen your Pilates practice, connect with other members, and enjoy a relaxed morning out.

  • Pair your sessions with red light therapy, either through memberships that include red light therapy or through a membership benefit of discounted sessions, to support recovery and overall health and wellbeing.

Have Questions?

  • Our studio is designed to provide a completely exclusive experience, ensuring you can recharge without any drain on your social battery. From the moment you have your initial introduction to the space, you will have the freedom to enter and complete your session independently, truly giving you the space you need.

    Key features include:

Exclusivity: You will have the entire studio to yourself, offering unparalleled privacy and peace.

Convenience: Drive-up parking right in front of the studio ensures ease of access.

Complete Package: All towels and refreshments are provided, eliminating any need for mental planning before your session.

One of a Kind: We are the only studio in Mount Maunganui offering this unique and exclusive experience.

  • Inside the pod and sauna please wear undergarments or similar. Red Light Therapy relies on skin exposure to the light. You will have privacy and a secure space for your belongings. Please remember to bring extra undergarments.

  • People can notice benefits from a one-off session, such as an immediate boost in energy, enhanced mood, or more restorative sleep.

Our membership bridges the gap between a one-off enjoyable experience and the purpose of restoring and maintaining health and well-being, as well as preventing ailments from arising. We consider Red Light Therapy combined with Sauna to underpin health and optimisation going forward.

Our membership provides weekly access for 40 minute (red light only) or 90-minute (red light therapy and sauna sessions) sessions. This strikes a balance between getting enough therapeutic light and detoxification, while being realistic in terms of time investment.

If someone is trying to recover from a specific ailment, such as chronic fatigue, more sessions may be valuable. If this applies to you, please get in touch, as we can add extra sessions to a membership for an affordable rate.

  • Wavelengths: Red light therapy uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light (630nm, 660nm, 810nm, 830nm 850nm). These wavelengths are carefully chosen for their ability to penetrate the skin and reach the mitochondria in cells, stimulating energy production and promoting healing. Sunlight, on the other hand, contains a broad spectrum of wavelengths, including ultraviolet (UV), visible light, and infrared, which can be damaging.

Controlled Exposure: Red light therapy provides controlled and targeted exposure. The intensity and duration of the light can be precisely regulated to ensure optimal therapeutic benefits without the risk of overexposure. In contrast, sunlight exposure can be difficult to control and may vary based on factors like time of day, weather, location and skin exposure.

Safety and Skin Health: Red light therapy is designed to be safe for the skin, avoiding the harmful effects of UV radiation found in sunlight. UV rays can cause skin damage, premature aging, and increase the risk of skin cancer. Red light therapy does not include UV wavelengths, making it a safer option for regular use.

Consistency and Convenience: Red light therapy can be administered consistently regardless of external conditions. It allows for scheduled, predictable sessions that are not dependent on weather or daylight availability. Sunlight exposure can be inconsistent and unpredictable, which may affect the regularity and effectiveness of treatment.

Therapeutic Focus: Red light therapy is specifically focused on promoting cellular health and healing. It is used to enhance mitochondrial function, reduce inflammation, accelerate tissue repair, and improve skin health. While sunlight provides benefits like vitamin D synthesis and mood enhancement, it does not offer the same targeted therapeutic effects as red light therapy.

  • UV is a form of electromagnetic radiation emitted from the sun that can be damaging. UV wavelengths are between 10 nm and 400 nm. The SOHL Red Light Therapy Pod does not contain any UV, only therapeutic red and near-infrared wavelengths between 630 nm and 850 nm.

  • A red light therapy pod with five wavelengths offers enhanced therapeutic benefits by targeting a broader range of cellular processes and tissue depths. Different wavelengths penetrate the skin at varying depths, addressing issues from surface-level skin treatment (red light) to deeper muscle recovery and inflammation reduction (near-infrared light). Combining multiple wavelengths provides a more comprehensive treatment, creating synergistic effects that enhance overall outcomes.

  • In light of trying to reduce mental load we provide everything you need in studio including in sauna and post sauna towels, water, shampoo and conditioner. The only item you need to bring is a change of under garments.

  • For now, we do operate from a home based studio. This studio has a designated parking spot for you, a seperate access and an exclusive outdoor shower for your privacy.

As their is people living upstairs you may occasionally hear a noise. This will be rare but If this disturbs your session please let us know.

We do not have toilet access within our studio. However, we are just a 15-second drive or a 2-minute walk from the Mount Drury toilets. We have purposefully extended appointment times allow for this.

While we are considering upgrading our facilities in the future, we did not want the complexity of this issue to prevent us from providing these valuable therapies to our community.

  • Yes, there is a designated parking space directly in front of the studio. If you have an early or late appointment (before 7am or after 7pm) we ask that you park on the road to minimise disruption.

  • If you are new to pilates our movement professionals can run you through a foundations session before recommending specific self led led classes. We also run our monthly fun and form classes which focuses on movement education and equipping our members with the knowledge ad awareness to start self correcting.

  • Space Bureta largely runs as a open / self-led studio where you are supported by technology, good programming and systems. We do however have our movement professionals in studio often and available to support you with form and progression on request. When they are in studio they will ask if you want any feedback or to be left to it. The monthly ‘Form and Fun’ event also serves as a way to provide movement education. We would love the opportunity to support you so please reach out.

  • Go to your reserved reformer, choose a class and press play, move your body, wipe down your reformer and move on with your day.

  • Beginner, intermediate, advanced as well as pre and postnatal.

  • Of course we always encourage listening to your body. One of the benefits of self-led pilates is that you can adjust movement to suit without feeling the pressure of he class. If you ever need help with modifications reach out. With regular movement education our hope is our members gain confidence in making these adaptations themselves.

  • Reach out to us and we will meet you at studio at a time that suits. We will assist you on downloading what you need to ensure your phone is all you need to access the studio going forwards.

  • Our studio will open 5am and close 11pm everyday. Neighbouring businesses do very similar hours so there are nearly always people around.

  • In the early stages of opening the studio we are going to have members only. This is to ensure we can protect our member experience and onboard properly, make sure everyone can access the support they require. Our membership terms are very flexible, we don’t want to lock anyone in. On open day we will have two and four week memberships available.

  • All classes are designed and led by instructors and physiotherapists.

  • We have over the ear headphones provided but you are welcome to bring your own to connect if you prefer.

  • We ask that you cancel your session as soon as you know you cannot make it so we can notify someone from the waitlist. We may bring in a small fee if we see this become a problem but not at this stage.

  • All reformers will be free on the hour and is allocated to you for the hour whether you come for a 50 minute class or 20 minute stretch. Please limit your class to 55 minutes and have the reformer wiped dow and ready for the next person on the hour.

  • Memberships are available for ages 16 plus.

  • We can pause all memberships two weeks within a calendar year. Please reach out to do so.
