  • Wavelengths: Red light therapy uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light (630nm, 660nm, 810nm, 830nm 850nm). These wavelengths are carefully chosen for their ability to penetrate the skin and reach the mitochondria in cells, stimulating energy production and promoting healing. Sunlight, on the other hand, contains a broad spectrum of wavelengths, including ultraviolet (UV), visible light, and infrared, which can be damaging.

Controlled Exposure: Red light therapy provides controlled and targeted exposure. The intensity and duration of the light can be precisely regulated to ensure optimal therapeutic benefits without the risk of overexposure. In contrast, sunlight exposure can be difficult to control and may vary based on factors like time of day, weather, location and skin exposure.

Safety and Skin Health: Red light therapy is designed to be safe for the skin, avoiding the harmful effects of UV radiation found in sunlight. UV rays can cause skin damage, premature aging, and increase the risk of skin cancer. Red light therapy does not include UV wavelengths, making it a safer option for regular use.

Consistency and Convenience: Red light therapy can be administered consistently regardless of external conditions. It allows for scheduled, predictable sessions that are not dependent on weather or daylight availability. Sunlight exposure can be inconsistent and unpredictable, which may affect the regularity and effectiveness of treatment.

Therapeutic Focus: Red light therapy is specifically focused on promoting cellular health and healing. It is used to enhance mitochondrial function, reduce inflammation, accelerate tissue repair, and improve skin health. While sunlight provides benefits like vitamin D synthesis and mood enhancement, it does not offer the same targeted therapeutic effects as red light therapy.

  • UV is a form of electromagnetic radiation emitted from the sun that can be damaging. UV wavelengths are between 10 nm and 400 nm. The SOHL Red Light Therapy Pod does not contain any UV, only therapeutic red and near-infrared wavelengths between 630 nm and 850 nm.

  • A red light therapy pod with five wavelengths offers enhanced therapeutic benefits by targeting a broader range of cellular processes and tissue depths. Different wavelengths penetrate the skin at varying depths, addressing issues from surface-level skin treatment (red light) to deeper muscle recovery and inflammation reduction (near-infrared light). Combining multiple wavelengths provides a more comprehensive treatment, creating synergistic effects that enhance overall outcomes.

  • Yes, there is a designated parking space directly in front of the studio. If you have an early or late appointment (before 7am or after 7pm) we ask that you park on the road to minimise disruption.

  • For now, we do operate from a home based studio. This studio has a designated parking spot for you, a seperate access and an exclusive outdoor shower for your privacy.

As there is people living upstairs you may occasionally hear a noise. This will be rare but If this disturbs your session please let us know so we can rectify the situation as best as possible.

The cons, we do not have toilet access within this studio. We are a 15 second drive or 2 minute walk from the Mount Dury toilets so if you needed to go pre or post session please use this facility. We are looking at upgrading this however did not want its complexity to be the reason we didn't provide these therapies to our community.
